All-out War or De-escalation: What Lies Ahead for Netanyahu and Israel?

Government Declaration

Pakistan has officially labeled Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu a terrorist. Rana Sanaullah, a top political adviser to Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, announced the decision. The government is also demanding that Netanyahu face justice for alleged war crimes against Palestinians. The formal declaration was part of a deal to resolve a local political crisis. Government officials negotiated the agreement with the religious political party Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP). The announcement successfully ended a disruptive, days-long sit-in near the capital.

Official Announcement

Sanaullah publicly branded Netanyahu a terrorist and war criminal during a press conference in Islamabad. He was joined by Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and several TLP leaders. The statement directly fulfilled a primary demand made by the protesting group.

The unrest began when thousands of TLP supporters gathered to condemn Israeli military actions in Gaza. Activists demanded an official boycott of Israeli goods and more humanitarian aid for Palestinians. The resulting road blockade at a major interchange severely disrupted traffic between Islamabad and Rawalpindi.

Diplomatic Stance and Aid Commitments

Islamabad does not officially recognize Israel and maintains no diplomatic or trade relations with the country. Instead, Pakistan consistently advocates for an independent Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders.

Despite the lack of direct trade, a widespread public campaign exists to boycott Israeli goods and Western brands linked to the nation. Political adviser Rana Sanaullah announced that a government committee will identify and target any products with indirect ties to Israel. Additionally, the government pledged to send over 1,000 tons of humanitarian relief to Palestinians, building on the multiple aid shipments already delivered to Gaza since late 2023.
