At OIC Meeting Pakistan Calls For Resolution Of Kashmir & Palestinian Conflicts
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Pakistan has urged the global community to ensure a peaceful resolution of the conflicts in Kashmir and Palestine. Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stressed the importance of granting the people of these regions their right to self-determination. He addressed the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) ambassadors at the United Nations in New York. He emphasized that principles of self-determination and the non-acquisition of land through force are crucial for global stability.

Support for Saudi Initiative on Palestine

Pakistan has called on OIC member states to support Saudi Arabia’s initiative for the establishment of a Palestinian state. Ishaq Dar stated that a two-state solution is essential for long-term peace in the region. He urged the OIC to take collective steps to prevent Israel from annexing the West Bank. Pakistan also seeks full UN membership for Palestine. Dar emphasized that the Muslim world must take firm actions to stop Israeli aggression.

Condemning Israeli Actions in Gaza and West Bank

Dar condemned Israel’s continuous military actions in Gaza, calling it a humanitarian crisis. He urged diplomatic efforts to maintain a ceasefire and ensure its full implementation. He called for increased humanitarian aid for the people of Gaza. Dar also warned of Israel’s plans to forcibly expel Palestinians from their homes. Pakistan urged the OIC to take steps to prevent Israeli violence in the West Bank. Dar highlighted the ongoing settlements and forced displacements of Palestinians.

Concerns Over Lebanon

The foreign minister welcomed the ceasefire in Lebanon brokered by France and the United States. However, he expressed concern over Israeli military actions in South Lebanon. He stated that these violations could reignite conflict. He called for Israel’s complete withdrawal from Lebanese territory.

Kashmir Issue and India’s Actions

Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to raising the Kashmir issue at international forums. Dar compared the situation in Kashmir to Palestine, accusing India of suppressing Kashmiris and changing the region’s demographics. He stated that India is bringing settlers from other parts of the country to alter Kashmir’s Muslim-majority identity. Dar warned of the risk of conflict between Pakistan and India. He cited aggressive statements from New Delhi about crossing the Line of Control (LoC). Dar stressed that these threats could escalate tensions between the two nations.

Security Concerns with Afghanistan

Pakistan raised concerns over cross-border attacks by the banned Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) from Afghanistan. Dar stated that Pakistan is facing daily attacks from the TTP and will take necessary measures to counter the threat. He pointed out the involvement of some Afghan refugees in terrorist activities in Pakistan. He emphasized that repatriating illegal Afghan refugees is crucial for national security. Despite these challenges, he reaffirmed Pakistan’s support for the Afghan people. He called for humanitarian assistance and economic connectivity to stabilize Afghanistan.

Global Call for Action

Pakistan urged the international community to adopt a comprehensive approach to conflicts. Dar called for counterterrorism measures and efforts to integrate Afghanistan into the global system. He stressed that peace in the region requires a collective effort from all stakeholders. Pakistan remains committed to working with OIC member states to uphold international law and promote stability.
