China’s President Xi Jinping will visit Russia’s Vladimir Putin for three days next week. Beijing and Moscow said on Friday, with “strategic cooperation” as the main topic of discussion.
President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping will make a state visit to Russia from March 20–22, 2023. According to a statement from the Kremlin’s press office.
The announcement states that “a number of significant bilateral documents” would be signed.
Since Russia began its full-scale invasion of Ukraine in February of last year, neither nation has officially confirmed.
That Xi will take the chance to call Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy. This would be the first communication between the two leaders.
Even though Beijing and Moscow signed a “no-limit partnership” agreement days before the start of the conflict in Ukraine.Beijing has subsequently tried to present itself as a peace mediator by announcing a 12-point peace plan.
Yet, Western officials have criticized Beijing’s initiatives. They said that China is not a suitable candidate to serve as the arbitrator because it is anything but neutral in the conflict.
The U.S. has accused China of providing non-lethal “assistance” to Russia, and between June and December of last year. Chinese enterprises sent more than 1,000 assault rifles, drone parts, and body armor to Russian entities.
