The 59thMunich Security Conference took place on February 17 to February 19,2023, at the Hotel Bayerischer Hof in Munich. It provided an incomparable platform for high-level debates on different foreign and security policy challenges in the current era. After one year of Russian invasion in Ukraine, the MSC provided an opportunity to debate on the issue and propose a solution reasonable to the politically sound internationally order.
The main objective of MSC is to build trust and contribute to the peaceful resolution of issues and disputes by being in the realm of international security community. By providing such facilities, MSC has become the world’s leading platforms for peaceful debates and informal dialogue where the ideas are covered, exchanged and shaped. It is a venue for official and non-official diplomatic initiatives where the world’s most pressing issues, concerning security matters are discussed. It also provides space for informal meetings between officials and thus promote peace through dialogue. The MSC is still trying to expand its wings and reach each relevant stakeholder so that every required matter can be resolved. In addition to its annual flagship conferences, the MSC also organizes many high-profile events for particular topics and regions.
The Munich Security Conference has its roots in transatlantic and European region but its activities also reflect a globalized world. The agenda of MSC not only includes most urgent security challenges but also draws attention towards the potential top-notch agendas that are yet to unveil publically. It also embraces a comprehensive definition of security which not only takes into account the economic, environment and human dimensions of security.
Different personalities belonging to different areas attended this conference. Numerous high-ranking international decision makers, heads of state and government, ministers of defence and foreign affairs as well as leading figures from academia, business and civil society were invited.
The prominent countries invited included, US, France, Britain, Ukraine, European Commission, Pakistan, Saudi Arabia etc.
