Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Riyadh on Wednesday for a meeting with Saudi Arabia’s Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman. The visit marks a significant diplomatic engagement between the two nations.
Upon arrival at Yamamah Palace in the Saudi capital, Putin was greeted by Crown Prince Mohammed, who praised the joint coordination between the two countries, emphasizing its role in easing tensions in the Middle East, as reported by the Saudi Press Agency.
The leaders discussed shared interests and collaborative initiatives aimed at benefiting not only Russia and Saudi Arabia but also the wider Middle East and the global community. The meeting highlighted the depth of the strategic relationship between the two nations.
In a statement, Putin expressed that the ties between Russia and Saudi Arabia had reached an “unprecedented level.” The discussions likely encompassed various areas of cooperation, including energy, geopolitics, and regional stability.
Before arriving in Riyadh, Putin had visited the United Arab Emirates (UAE) on the same day. In Abu Dhabi, he was received by President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al-Nahyan at Qasr Al-Watan Palace.
The back-to-back visits underscore Russia’s diplomatic outreach in the Middle East and its efforts to strengthen ties with key regional players.
