As part of his business trip to Belgium, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Portugal, Mr Joao Gomes Cravinho. The ministers discussed how Azerbaijan and Portugal are currently getting along while also noting that there is room for improvement in a number of areas of their bilateral ties. Relations between Azerbaijan and the European Union were also discussed during the summit. According to Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, there is significant potential for the growth of bilateral economic, trade, and investment relations between our countries. Furthermore, perspectives on matters related to energy security were discussed.
However, discussions focused on Azerbaijan’s efforts and future potential in the areas of energy security, exporting energy resources to Europe, and developing alternative energy sources. Minister Jeyhun Bayramov briefed his counterpart on the region’s post-conflict condition, the actions Azerbaijan has done to promote peace in the area, the repair and construction projects being carried out in the liberated territories, “green energy” initiatives, and also the continued mine dangers. According to Minister Joo Gomes Cravinho, his nation is eager to expand its partnership with Azerbaijan.
