Pakistan expresses concern over BJP involvement in Gujarat riots

Pakistan’s foreign office expressed concern over a recent statement made by a former chief minister of India’s Gujarat state who claimed that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is currently in power, helped to facilitate the killing of Muslims in 2002 and that the bloodshed helped put the government in New Delhi in power. Moreover, the Gujarat riots of 2002 were among the bloodiest instances of inter-communal violence in India. Muslims and Hindus totalling more than 1,000 were murdered. When the riots started, Gujarat’s chief minister at the time was Narendra Modi, currently the prime minister of India.
