NATO Exercise in Europe: UK Deploys 20,000 Military Personnel

The United Kingdom has officially committed to deploying a contingent of 20,000 military personnel including warships and fighter jets across Europe in a substantial NATO exercise scheduled for the first half of 2024.
The deployment encompasses a contingent of 16,000 personnel from the British Army, stationed in Eastern Europe from the month of February to June. Further, the personnel deployment is accompanied by an aircraft carrier strike group, F35B Lightning attack jets, and surveillance planes.
NATO’s Exercise Steadfast Defender 24 is a significant undertaking commemorating the 75th anniversary of the Western alliance.
In an official statement today, the United Kingdom has declared its commitment to a substantial military deployment, with approximately 20,000 personnel participating in one of NATO’s most extensive mobilizations since the conclusion of the Cold War. The announcement was made by Defence Secretary Grant Shapps.
