The global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence and the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women on November 25 provide an opportunity to pause, renew, ratchet up, and plan to fulfil promises to end violence against women by 2030. It is feasible to put an end to violence against women, but only if we act jointly right away. The WHO is essential in raising awareness of and taking action against violence against women as a matter of public health, gender equality, and human rights.
The event will highlight the crucial role played by women’s rights movements in preventing and eliminating violence against women and girls, mobilise more people to support efforts to do so and to fight back against the repression of women’s rights, and launch the 16 Days of Activism. All of these activities will fall under the global umbrella theme of the 2022 UNiTE Campaign: “UNiTE! Activism to End Violence against Women & Girls.”
