An industry analysis released on Thursday stated that China’s digital economy rose to 50.2 trillion yuan ($7.25 trillion) in 2022, with nominal growth of 10.3% year over year and placing second internationally.

According to the study on the growth of China’s digital sector issued at the ongoing 6th Digital China Summit, the proportion of the country’s GDP that is made up of the digital economy increased to 41.5 percent.

The report stated that by the end of 2022, China would have installed 2.31 million 5G base stations and had 561 million active 5G users, or more than 60% of the world’s population.

In the city of Fuzhou, in the province of Fujian, East China, the 6th Digital China Summit began on Thursday. The two-day summit’s main objectives are to share knowledge on digital development and to highlight the most recent successes of the Digital China project.

The National Development and Reform Commission, the Ministries of Science and Technology, Industry and Information Technology, the State-owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission of the State Council, and the People’s Government of Fujian Province are all co-sponsors of the summit.
