The United Nations, led by Humanitarian Coordinator Denise Brown, delivered essential goods to hundreds of residents in the southern Ukrainian city of Kherson. More than 6,000 people were provided with food, water, hygiene kits, shelter supplies, and essential household items including bedding, thermal blankets, and solar lamps by aid workers in the city, which was returned to Ukrainian authority last Friday following the withdrawal of Russian troops. Kherson was taken by Russian soldiers early in the conflict and has been under their control since March. It is the only regional capital that the invaders have yet to capture.
Humanitarian aid is urgently needed for more than 6,000 people in Kherson, a city in eastern Ukraine. Water and electricity are in poor supply in the city, food is running out in the markets and medical supplies are scarce. The convoy of today delivered food, water, hygiene kits, building supplies, and essential home goods like solar lamps, thermal blankets, and mattresses. Additionally, a local hospital will get supplies for more than 1,000 patients throughout the course of the upcoming month.
