Prime Minister of Canada, Justin Trudeau spoke with Ukraine’s Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal and showed his support to the people of Ukraine.
The Prime Ministers discussed Canada’s assistance to Ukraine and work to address the impacts of Russia’s aggression of the country. They also discussed the importance of maintaining strong unity amongst allies and impose sanctions on Russia due to the invasion of Ukraine. He also mentioned to provide financial support through the International Monetary Fund. They discussed Ukraine’s financial situation, including economic recovery and reconstruction.
Trudeau also congratulated Ukraine on recent military gains while meeting with the country’s prime minister. “Prime Minister Trudeau commended the courage and heroism of the Ukrainian people in coming together to defend their country and freedoms against Russia’s ongoing attacks,” the statement read.
