Volodymyr Zelenskyy, the president of Ukraine, recently paid a visit to the recently freed city of Kherson in the south and took a photo there with Ukrainian soldiers.
The president of Ukraine sang the national anthem while backed by soldiers and members of his team as the Ukrainian flag was flown over a government building in the city center, as seen in a video that Mr. Zelensky’s chief of staff published on social media.
“The recapture of the regions is the result of the heroic efforts of the Ukrainian defenders,” Mr. Zelensky subsequently stated on Telegram.
The visit happened three days after Russian troops left Kherson, the only provincial capital Moscow managed to seize during the more than eight months of fighting. Following a months-long Ukrainian effort to cut off their supply routes and drive them out, Russian soldiers were compelled to depart the city.
