Gender equality, the eradication of poverty, and inclusive economic growth can all be achieved through making investments in women’s economic empowerment.
The transformational economic, environmental, and social transformations necessary for sustainable development are mostly being driven by women.
Whether working in farms, businesses, or as employees, women significantly contribute to economies.
They also provide unpaid care at home. Yet, they continue to be disproportionately impacted by exploitation, prejudice, and poverty.
Due to gender discrimination, women frequently find themselves in low-paying, insecure employment and make up a small minority of those in high positions.
It limits participation in determining economic and social policies and restricts access to financial resources like loans and real estate.
The majority of domestic work is done by women, therefore they frequently have little free time.
Their limited access to credit, health care and education are among many challenges faced. Which are further aggravated by food and economic crises, and climate change.
Empowering them is key not only to the well-being of individuals, families and communities, but also to overall economic productivity.
This is why Norway embassy in Pakistan organised a fashion show Dhanak, in which foreign dignitaries & UN officials showcased inspiring handicrafts by Entrepreneurs from Multan part of Kaarvan & UNWomen program of WEE.
In this way the UN Women Pakistan is promoting and encouraging women businesses and their effort.
