Roads and railway network connecting Balochistan to the rest of Pakistan have been disconnected due to recent floods and heavy rainfall in most parts of the country, and hundreds of mudhouses were damaged in Dera Bugti, Kohlu, Muslim Bagh, Musakhail, Qila Saifullah, and other areas.
Organizations and the army forces have been helping the affected people continuously. UN woman has also provided its support to woman and girls that are suffering.
Ms. Sharmeela Rasool Country Representative for UN Woman Pakistan visited flood affected areas of Hanna Urak, Quetta and interacted with women & girls. They have reached over 450 households in districts of Lasbella, Loralai and Quetta.
UN Woman is also promoting a safe work environment towards woman. The organization has worked with Food Panda to conduct a training session on Dignified and Harassment-free Workplaces in Karachi. it is a first good initiative to start developing in other companies what they call “Inclusive & Safe Workplace = Better Business”.
With the help of international organizations such as UN Woman, Pakistan can start getting to reach better level of gender equality.
