In an effort to lessen migration over the English Channel, which frequently causes tension between the two nations, the interior ministers of France and Britain signed a bilateral agreement in Paris.
“There are no quick fixes, but thanks to this new agreement, we will be able to significantly increase the number of French gendarmes patrolling the beaches in northern France,” said Britain’s Suella Braverman to her French counterpart, in a joint statement following the signing of the agreement.
” According to the British interior ministry, “the arrangement implies that, for the first time, specialist UK police will also be integrated with their French colleagues.” for the purpose of “strengthening mutual understanding.”
A new agreement was reached on October 14, that emphasizes the strengthening of connections between the neighbors and calls for Britain to pay France an additional 72.2 million euros to stop migrant boat crossings in the English Channel.
