Saudi Arabia will not normalise ties with Israel unless there is a two-state solution with Palestinians. The comments were made by Prince Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos. Saudi Arabia has repeatedly refused to normalise relations with Israel due to its occupation of Palestinian territories.
Foreign Minister Adel al-Jubeir: “We have made it clear that peace comes at the end of this process, not at the beginning of it”. He said Saudi Arabia supports the Arab Peace Initiative and has offered to join the Abraham Accords.
The United States and Saudi Arabia have reaffirmed their commitment to a two-state solution for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, a joint statement says. “We would not want to impose ourselves in that decision-making process or make those decisions for them,” a senior U.S. official said, noting Biden’s comments that normalization efforts would take time. The leaders noted their determination to remain closely coordinated in efforts to encourage the parties to demonstrate – through policies and actions – their commitments to peace.
However, Saudi Arabia has repeatedly refused to normalise relations with Israel due to its occupation of Palestinian territories. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has discussed normalisation with Saudi Arabia in talks with White House officials.
