The agenda of the visit to Washington corresponded to the recent intensification of Polish-American dialogue. Minister Rau met with Speaker of the House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi, Senators Cynthia Jeanne Shaheen and Roger Wicker, and Representatives Marcy Kaptur and Chris Smith of the Congressional Poland Caucus and the House Foreign Affairs Committee.
The Polish MFA chief also spoke on a panel at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS). Speaking to leading strategists and international policy experts, he outlined Poland’s assessment of the situation in Ukraine and security challenges in Central and Eastern Europe, as well as the North Atlantic Alliance’s adaptation to Russian threats.
Minister Rau also addressed the issue of energy security, emphasizing the importance of the Baltic Pipe and Poland’s active use of renewable energy sources in this context.
