The Prime Minister furthered Canada’s relationship with ASEAN as a trustworthy and active partner during the gathering, which had the theme “Addressing Challenges Together,” and also developed partnerships in the Indo-Pacific. In order to generate excellent jobs in Canada and Southeast Asia, increase and diversify trade, boost economic resilience, invest in and connect our peoples, and create a clean future were some of his top aims.
He said, “We strengthened our partnerships in the Indo-Pacific – which will have a real impact on jobs, growth, and trade for Canadians. And by elevating our relationship with ASEAN countries, we’ll be able to do even more in the years ahead.”
