Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s visit to China to attend the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation marks a significant moment in the enduring friendship between the two nations. This delegation underscores the depth of Pakistan-China relations and the commitment to further strengthen economic and diplomatic ties. As the forum coincides with the ten-year milestone of the Belt and Road Initiative, it serves as a testament to the strategic partnership and shared vision for a more interconnected world.

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s Delegation to China

PM Kakar’s departure for Beijing on the official invitation of President Xi Jinping signifies the importance of this forum. His participation in the Third Belt and Road Forum reflects Pakistan’s dedication to promoting regional connectivity, economic cooperation, and its full support for the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC). The forum’s theme, “Vision for a Shared Future,” aligns with the long-standing ties between both countries, emphasizing unity and cooperation in the face of global challenges.

A Strong Message of Friendship and Commitment

In an op-ed for China’s Global Times, PM Kakar emphasized the timeless Pakistan-China partnership and the historical significance of this alliance. He praised President Xi’s visionary leadership, which laid the foundation for the Belt and Road Initiative, a concept that has reshaped international development, cooperation, and global governance. PM Kakar highlighted that Pakistan was among the first countries to join the BRI, and the CPEC has been a transformative project that enhanced regional connectivity and economic prosperity. This journey is a testament to the abiding support and enduring friendship between the two nations.

Agreements and Investments to Boost Bilateral Relations

During this visit, PM Kakar will engage in bilateral meetings with President Xi Jinping and other top Chinese leaders. These meetings are expected to foster strong diplomatic ties and further enhance the economic cooperation between Pakistan and China. The prime minister will also meet with businessmen and investors to promote foreign investment in Pakistan, underlining the potential for increased economic collaboration.

One of the significant outcomes of this visit will be the signing of numerous agreements and memorandums of understanding (MoUs). These agreements will cover various sectors, including the expansion of trade and cultural connectivity. Pakistan is particularly interested in converting the Karakoram Highway into an all-weather road to promote trade, tourism, and cultural exchange. Additionally, Pakistan seeks to establish a modern Highway Research & Training Centre (HRTC) with Chinese assistance, which will further bolster the infrastructure development in the region.

Meetings in Ürümqi and Gwadar Port Discussions

PM Kakar’s visit to Ürümqi will focus on fostering relations between the people of Xinjiang and Pakistan, as well as exploring business and investment opportunities. It is a testament to the comprehensive approach to building stronger ties and cultural exchange. In this region, the PM will also address Xinjiang University, reinforcing educational and cultural connections.

Furthermore, Gwadar Port will remain at the center of discussions during the meetings in Beijing. This coastal city has gained prominence as a key location for CPEC and trade connectivity, making it a pivotal element in Pakistan’s economic growth and regional influence.

Conclusion

Caretaker Prime Minister Anwaarul Haq Kakar’s delegation to China for the Third Belt and Road Forum for International Cooperation symbolizes the strong and enduring partnership between both nations. The visit is not merely a diplomatic endeavor but an opportunity to solidify economic ties, with the signing of crucial agreements and MoUs. Pakistan’s commitment to the Belt and Road Initiative and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor is unwavering, showcasing a shared vision for a more interconnected world. This visit is not just about strengthening economic cooperation but also about fostering cultural exchange and expanding international partnerships.

As the forum coincides with the ten-year anniversary of the Belt and Road Initiative, it is a celebration of the remarkable progress achieved and the promise of a brighter, more interconnected future. Pakistan and China’s friendship remains unshakable, serving as a source of pride and a factor of peace and stability in the region and beyond. In these uncertain times, it is partnerships like these that offer hope and a path towards a more interconnected and prosperous world.
