The Government and people of Pakistan have expressed their deep sorrow and condolences over the terrorist attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the Islamic Republic of Iran.
In a statement, the Foreign Ministry of Pakistan stated that the country stands in solidarity with the brotherly people of Azerbaijan during this moment of grief and offered their prayers for the early recovery of the injured. Furthermore, the Foreign Ministry of Azerbaijan also released a statement condemning the attack, calling it a “treacherous Terror Attack.”
The statement expressed disappointment that the Iranian side had not fulfilled its obligations under the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations to ensure the security of the embassy and the safety of its employees.
It further stated that there have been previous attempts to threaten the Azerbaijani diplomatic mission in Iran, and that these concerns were repeatedly raised with Iran but without proper action taken to prevent such incidents.
The statement also highlighted that the recent anti-Azerbaijani campaign against their country in Iran may have led to the attack on the Embassy.
The Azerbaijani government has strongly demanded that Iran identify and punish the perpetrators of the terrorist attack, as well as the instigators of this act, in the most severe manner possible.
Likewise, Azerbaijan has also announced plans to use all available international mechanisms to identify the perpetrators and ensure a corresponding punishment.
It is pertinent to note that in light of the attack, the Azerbaijani government has also announced plans to evacuate the employees of the Embassy, along with their family members, to ensure their safety.
The Government of Azerbaijan has called on the international community to support its efforts in bringing those responsible for this heinous act to justice and to take a strong stand against terrorism in all forms.
Pakistan and Azerbaijan have jointly condemned the terrorist attack on the Embassy of the Republic of Azerbaijan in Tehran, and have called for swift action to bring the perpetrators to justice and ensure the safety of diplomatic missions worldwide.
