Iran Strikes Terrorist Group in Pakistan:
The Iranian Foreign Minister clarified that the air strikes in Pakistan targeted the Iranian terrorist group Jaish al-Adl. He stated that the attack resulted in the unfortunate death of two children.
Strikes not aimed at Pakistan Nationals
The minister reassured that Iranian missiles and drones did not target any nationals of Pakistan or of any other friendly and brotherly country. He made these statements on the World Economic Forum.
Iran Official Stance:
Iran’s Foreign Minister, Amir-Abdollahian, stated that the attack on “Pakistan’s soil” was a response to the recent attacks by the group on the Iranian city of Rask in Sistan-Baluchistan. He highlighted that the group, Jaish al-Adl, had found shelter in parts of Pakistan’s Balochistan province.
Iran Respects Pakistan Sovereignty
Pakistan officials were informed that terrorist were taking shelter in Pakistan. He was of the view that Iran respects Pakistan sovereignty and territorial integrity but at the same time it won’t compromise on its national security. Jaish al-Adl, a Sunni Muslim armed group, has previously targeted Iranian security forces in the border area with Pakistan.
Pakistan Stance:
Following an airspace violation resulting in the death of two children, Pakistan recalled its ambassador to Iran. Pakistan deemed the violation as “unacceptable” and a breach of sovereignty. The country asserted its right to respond to what it termed an “illegal act.” Pakistan’s foreign ministry spokesperson declared that Iran’s ambassador, currently in Iran, would not be permitted to return to Islamabad. Balochistan officials reported that four missiles hit the Panjgur district, located about 50km inside Pakistani territory near the Iranian border.
Damage and Casualties at Ground:
The recent attack resulted in damage to a mosque and three houses, according to authorities. Two young girls lost their lives, and three other family members sustained injuries in the strikes. These attacks occurred a day after Tehran executed similar actions in Iraq and Syria, leading to Baghdad recalling its ambassador from Tehran. Iranian state media claimed the targeting of an Israeli espionage center as the reason for the tensions with Iraq.
