Iran Counters U.S. Unilateralism Through BRICS and SCO Memberships, Says President Raisi
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In a resolute stand against U.S. unilateralism, Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi emphasized the pivotal role of Iran’s membership in BRICS and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO). Speaking at a press conference in Tehran, President Raisi underscored the potential of these memberships to counterbalance international power dynamics and bolster Iran’s economic resilience against external pressures. Amid growing global tensions, Iran’s strategic alignment with these blocs has emerged as a cornerstone of its foreign policy.

A Strategic Counterbalance: Iran’s BRICS and SCO Memberships Bolster Diplomatic Efforts

President Raisi’s address highlighted the strategic significance of Iran’s memberships in BRICS and the SCO. As a new entrant to BRICS – a constellation of emerging economies that includes Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa – Iran has assumed a prominent role in reshaping the global economic landscape. Raisi praised Iran’s unique capacities, emphasizing the nation’s potential to wield influence within these organizations.

A Resolute Stance: President Raisi Rejects Economic Dependency on Western States

Dispelling the notion of economic reliance on Western states, President Raisi stood firm in asserting Iran’s sovereignty. He unequivocally stated that Iran would not hinge its economic progress on the goodwill of Western powers. Amid speculation that closer ties with the West could lead to economic breakthroughs, Raisi reasserted Iran’s commitment to self-determination. This unyielding stance aims to insulate the Iranian economy and the lives of its citizens from external manipulation.

Diplomacy in Action: Iran’s Commitment to Revive the Nuclear Deal While Pursuing Sovereignty

Addressing Iran’s nuclear deal negotiations, President Raisi affirmed Tehran’s continued commitment to diplomacy. He emphasized that Iran remains at the negotiation table to revive the nuclear deal while pursuing its national interests. Raisi’s message was clear: while open to dialogue, Iran will not be held hostage by the decisions of Western states. The pursuit of lifting sanctions remains a priority, but the timeline and terms will be determined by Iran’s own strategic imperatives.

President Raisi’s assertions resonate with a country steadfast in its determination to safeguard its sovereignty and economic prosperity. Iran’s membership in BRICS and the SCO serves as a multifaceted tool to balance global power dynamics, strengthen diplomatic ties, and pursue economic progress on its own terms. As the world watches the evolving geopolitical landscape, Iran’s strategic maneuvering through these alliances is set to shape its trajectory on the international stage.
