Iran Calls for Emergency OIC Meeting Over Trump’s Gaza Plan

Iran has called for an emergency meeting of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) in response to US President Donald Trump’s proposal to take control of Gaza. Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi made the request during a phone call with his Tunisian counterpart, Mohamed Ali Nafti, on Saturday.

Iran Condemns US Proposal as a “Colonial Plot”

Araghchi strongly criticized Trump’s plan, calling it part of a broader strategy to erase Palestine. He described the proposal as a dangerous threat to the Palestinian people and their future. The Iranian foreign minister urged Muslim nations to take immediate and coordinated action to confront the move.

“The OIC was established to support Palestine and Jerusalem. It must act quickly to fulfill its mission,” Araghchi said. He stressed that Islamic nations cannot remain silent in the face of such a significant threat.

Trump’s Controversial Gaza Plan Sparks Global Outrage

On February 4, Trump proposed that the US take control of Gaza and resettle its Palestinian population elsewhere. He claimed the plan would transform the enclave into “the Riviera of the Middle East.” His remarks triggered widespread condemnation from several countries, including Canada, France, Germany, and the UK.

Palestinian leaders and Arab nations denounced the proposal as a violation of international law. Many viewed it as an attempt to forcibly remove Palestinians from their land. Protesters in Gaza, the West Bank, and other parts of the Middle East took to the streets to reject the plan. Tunisia Rejects Forced Removal of Palestinians

During his call with Araghchi, Nafti reaffirmed Tunisia’s stance on Palestine. He stated that Gaza and the West Bank are inseparable parts of Palestinian territory. “Any attempt to remove Palestinians from their homeland is unacceptable,” Nafti said. He emphasized that Tunisia stands with Palestine and opposes any foreign intervention.

OIC Expected to Respond Soon

The OIC has not yet announced a date for the emergency meeting. However, many member states have expressed deep concerns over Trump’s proposal. Some diplomats suggest that an urgent session could take place within days.

Araghchi insisted that Muslim nations must present a united front against the US plan. “This is not just about Gaza. It is about the future of Palestine and the entire region,” he said. He warned that failing to act now could set a dangerous precedent for future interventions.

International Pressure Mounts Against Trump’s Plan

The global backlash against Trump’s proposal continues to grow. Human rights organizations and international legal experts have condemned the idea as a clear violation of Palestinian rights. The United Nations has not issued an official statement yet, but several diplomats have expressed serious concerns.

As tensions rise, many are watching to see how the OIC and other international bodies will respond. The coming days could determine whether Trump’s controversial plan moves forward or faces significant diplomatic resistance.
