International Anti-Corruption Day 9 December

Corruption has a negative effect on all facets of society and is intricately linked to unrest and instability. The goal of the 2022 International Anti-Corruption Day is to draw attention to the critical connection between anti-corruption efforts and development, security, and peace. In unifying the world against corruption, states, government officials, civil workers, law enforcement personnel, media representatives, the private sector, civic society, academia, the general public, and youth all have a part to play. The General Assembly approved the UN Convention against Corruption on October 31, 2003. Since the Convention’s entry into force in December 2005, 188 parties have agreed to abide by its anti-corruption provisions. The UNCAC and the ideals it upholds are more crucial than ever as we approach its twentieth anniversary in October 2023.
