H.E Wendy Gilmour High Commissioner of Canada. to Pakistan said ” Canada has a feminist foreign policy, working with women to follow their needs and priorities”.
H.E Alfred Grannas, Ambassador of Germany to Pakistan said that increasing female participation in policymaking is vital for attaining Pakistan’s development goals.
The conference has been viewed as a game changer for the socio-economic empowerment of women in former Federally Administered Tribal Areas (Fata) as well as the settled areas of the KP. It provided a platform for a policy dialogue focusing on needs and opportunities for the womenfolk, who otherwise are faced with multiple challenges when it comes to their real empowerment and decision-making, said the press release issued ahead of the event.
More than 500 delegates including over 100 vibrant women from the KP and former Fata attended the conference which included themes like leadership, climate change, politics, media, entrepreneurship, girls education, digital knowledge and transformation, women rights, reproductive health, sports, and rule of law.
It helped identify the needs of the women and the challenges they are facing and forward policy recommendations to the KP government for effective implementation in the women uplift programmes.
