In a solemn ceremony held at the Pakistani Presidency in Islamabad Dr. Riina Kionka assumed her duties as the European Union’s ambassador to Pakistan and handed Dr. Arif Alvi her credentials.
Dr. Riina Kiona received a dignified greeting at the President House and was accorded a guard of honor by a group of the Pakistani military forces before being brought to the event location in an official horse-drawn carriage.
From 2019 to 2022, Dr. Riina Kionka held the position of European Union Ambassador to South Africa. Dr. Kionka also worked as the main foreign policy advisor to Donald Tusk, the president of the European Council. She is now working in Pakistan with a group of 55 international and local employees at the Delegation in Islamabad.
