Chinese Defense Minister Strongly Warns Against Manipulating Taiwan Issue at Moscow Security Conference
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

In a resolute stance, the Chinese State Councilor and Defense Minister, General Li Shangfu, cautioned against any attempts to manipulate the Taiwan question to undermine China’s stability. Addressing the 11th Moscow Conference on International Security in Kubinka, Moscow, General Li emphasized that using the Taiwan issue as a tool to contain China is bound to fail. He firmly stated that the Taiwan question is a matter of China’s internal affairs and affirmed China’s unswerving pursuit of reunification. The conference also saw General Li highlighting the Global Security Initiative, advocating a paradigm shift towards cooperative and sustainable security.

Unyielding Position on Taiwan Question

General Li’s address underlines China’s unwavering stance on the Taiwan question. He asserted that any efforts to exploit the Taiwan issue for geopolitical gain are destined to be unsuccessful. The Chinese defense minister reiterated that the matter is an internal concern for China and resists external interference. “China’s reunification is a historical trend,” he emphasized, further solidifying China’s commitment to its territorial integrity.

Global Security Initiative for Peace

Highlighting the importance of cooperative security, General Li introduced the Global Security Initiative as a transformative approach to international security. The initiative, he stressed, advocates for comprehensive and sustainable security rooted in dialogue and partnership rather than confrontation and zero-sum competition. By promoting harmony and common development, the Global Security Initiative aspires to bring a much-needed sense of stability and positivity to a world marked by upheaval and change.

China’s Peaceful Military Engagement

General Li reaffirmed China’s dedication to global peace and stability through its military endeavors. He emphasized that China’s military serves as a steadfast force for maintaining world peace. He expressed China’s readiness to collaborate with other nations’ armed forces to strengthen mutual trust in military security strategies and practical cooperation across diverse fields. General Li underscored the intention to construct a collaborative security platform to contribute significantly to maintaining worldwide security.

General Li Shangfu’s impassioned address at the Moscow Conference on International Security firmly reinforces China’s uncompromising stance on the Taiwan question and its resolute commitment to peaceful global security. The event not only showcased China’s aspirations for cooperative security but also its dedication to fostering positive international relationships. The resounding call for harmony, mutual trust, and collaboration echoed by General Li resonates as a poignant reminder of the imperative to work together in a world fraught with uncertainty.
