Chinese Foreign Minister Qin Gang and Argentinean Foreign Minister Santiago Cafiero spoke on the phone on Monday. During their talk, Qin praised Argentina for successfully hosting the seventh Summit of the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (CELAC). According to Qin mutual friendship between, China and Argentina, allowed them to cooperate in order to put into practise the significant consensus reached by the two countries’ heads of state, uphold the two countries’ positive traditions of respect for one another, treating one another equally, win-win cooperation, and advance the development of their comprehensive strategic partnership. China will continue to assist Argentina in upholding its territorial integrity and national sovereignty.
The Chinese FM emphasised that China’s recent development of pandemic prevention and control measures is beneficial for enhancing communication. According to Qin, China urges Argentina to take a more active role in regional and global affairs and to join BRICS as soon as possible.
He went on to say that China is willing to collaborate closely with Argentina within the framework of the United Nations and the Group of 20 in order to jointly promote the implementation of the Global Development Initiative and Global Security Initiative as well as the sustainable development of the China-CELAC Forum.
The Argentine FM emphasised that China and Argentina have a similar view of what it means to rule for the people and that their bilateral cooperation has resulted in fruitful results.
Asserting that Argentina would continue to steadfastly uphold the one-China principle, Cafiero stated that Argentina is keen to cooperate with China on the Belt and Road, actively support the establishment of the China-CELAC Forum, and engage in multilateralism with China.
