As President Joe Biden travels to the Middle East to restore American leadership, China’s Foreign Ministry declared on Friday that it will not follow the Americans’ lead in the region.
A spokesperson for the Chinese Foreign Ministry, Wang Wenbin, told reporters in Beijing on Friday. That there is no such thing as a vacuum in the Middle East.
In order to continue playing a beneficial role in bringing about peace and prosperity in the Middle East, China is prepared to collaborate with the international community. Wang said, underscoring the nation’s efforts to promote peace and just settlements to regional disputes.
Wang further stated that his nation would “completely respect and listen to the will of the Pacific island countries” in response to the PIF chief’s accusation in May. That China was attempting to rush through a broad new pact spanning everything from security to fisheries in the area.
According to Henry Puna, the PIF’s Secretary General, China Foreign Minister Wang Yi arrived in the area with a prepared “result paper”. For talks with his counterparts from the islands that have not yet taken place.
Wang asserted that China had “extensive consultation” with the island countries over the document. And that “consultation” is necessary for the conclusion of a significant accord.
“We will keep in touch with the island countries on this,” Wang continued.
