According to the Ministry of Ecology and Environment, China will shortly send three poor countries a number of aid packages to help them improve their capacity to deal with climate change.
China will donate 300 metric tonnes of cement to build seawalls for the Pacific island nation of Kiribati and 5,000 sets of solar power generation systems for household use.
As part of its efforts to implement its plan to increase South-South Cooperation on climate change, the ministry announced on Tuesday.
The press announcement stated that Botswana will be provided with a portable ground system that can receive and process data from satellites.
The system will help the African country with environmental monitoring, agricultural output, and disaster prevention related to extreme weather.
Additionally, it was announced that six electric buses would be sent to Costa Rica to aid in the country’s efforts to transition to a low-carbon, environmentally friendly transportation system.
According to the ministry, “all aids in the three programmes are currently in the final stages of production.” They’ll be delivered soon for shipping.
The ministry emphasised that China has consistently worked to support other poor countries in their efforts to improve their capacity to combat climate change.
According to the statement, China has so far signed 45 agreements on climate cooperation with 38 developing nations.
Additionally, it has provided training courses to over 120 developing countries’ 2,300 officials and professionals in roles relevant to the environment.
