China and Pakistan have agreed to expand their multibillion-dollar China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project. Both countries aim to complete ongoing projects on time and enhance cooperation under the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI).

During a meeting in Beijing, Chinese President Xi Jinping and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari reaffirmed their commitment to economic development. They agreed to develop five new corridors under CPEC: a growth corridor, a livelihood-enhancing corridor, an innovation corridor, a green corridor, and an open corridor.

Both sides also emphasized the importance of the CPEC Joint Cooperation Committee (JCC). They plan to hold the 14th JCC meeting soon to improve coordination and project implementation.

Political and Security Support

Pakistan reaffirmed its commitment to China’s territorial integrity. Islamabad stated that Taiwan is an inalienable part of China and pledged support on issues related to Xinjiang, Tibet (Xizang), Hong Kong, and the South China Sea.

China expressed its full support for Pakistan’s sovereignty, national security, and economic stability. Beijing also condemned recent terrorist attacks targeting Chinese personnel in Pakistan.

Both countries agreed to adopt a zero-tolerance approach toward terrorism. They pledged to enhance bilateral and multilateral counterterrorism cooperation.

Regional and Global Issues

China and Pakistan discussed regional stability, including the situation in the Middle East and South Asia. They welcomed the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and called for lasting peace in Palestine. Both nations reaffirmed their support for the Palestinian people’s right to self-determination and the establishment of an independent state.

Pakistan briefed China on developments in Jammu and Kashmir. Beijing reiterated that Kashmir is a historical dispute that should be resolved peacefully. China emphasized the need for a solution based on the United Nations Charter, Security Council resolutions, and bilateral agreements.

Afghanistan and Counterterrorism Efforts

China and Pakistan discussed the situation in Afghanistan. They urged the Afghan interim government to take verifiable actions against terrorist groups operating in the country. Both sides emphasized that Afghan soil should not be used to threaten regional or global security.

Deepening Bilateral Ties

The two leaders stressed the importance of strengthening high-level strategic cooperation. They committed to enhancing trust, security coordination, and international partnerships.

China and Pakistan aim to build a stronger economic and security alliance for regional peace and shared prosperity.
