China is prepared to expand comprehensive strategic cooperation with Italy.

A top Chinese ambassador said here on Thursday that Beijing is prepared to intensify comprehensive strategic collaboration with Italy. In order to raise the level of bilateral relations.

 

Wang Yi, director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee. He stated during his meeting with Italian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Antonio Tajani. That China places great importance on Sino-Italian relations and that the ancient Silk Road connected the two peoples.

This year, Wang is making his first trip to Europe. Following his visits to France and Italy. He will continue to Hungary and Russia. He is also scheduled to speak at the 59th Munich Security Conference’s China session.

 

Wang, a member of the CPC Central Committee’s Political Bureau, claimed that China had successfully contained the COVID-19 pandemic. And established a robust economic recovery, and resumed international trade in an orderly manner.

 

He urged the two nations to quickly act to make up for the time lost as a result of the pandemic. By resuming their interactions and collaboration in a number of areas.

According to Wang, the document establishing China and Italy’s collaborative building of the Belt and Road. This has significantly raised the strategic level of the two countries’ bilateral relations.

During Chinese President Xi Jinping’s state visit to Italy in 2019. However, China and Italy inked an agreement in Rome to promote the Belt and Road initiative together.

The statement by Wang that the two sides may push for more beneficial outcomes in the China-Italy relations. The advantageous assets, by utilising the potential of collaboration in the green, digital, and third-party markets.

According to him, China is prepared to import more high-quality Italian goods, will assist Italian businesses in growing their market share in China. They expects Italy will provide an environment that is fair, open, and nondiscriminatory for Chinese businesses.

According to the Chinese Foreign Ministry, China was Italy’s greatest trading partner in Asia as of October 2022. While Italy was China’s fourth-largest trading partner in the European Union.

Wang stated that China respects Italy’s standing and clout in the international community. And is prepared to collaborate with it to defend the core values of the United Nations (UN). To uphold the norms governing international relations based on the goals and tenets of the UN Charter.

This promote multilateralism in theory and practise. Moreover, the advance democracy in international relations and economic globalisation.

The top diplomat added that he anticipates Italy making a beneficial contribution to the advancement of China-Europe relations.

Italy and China, according to Tajani, have a pleasant history together.

The 11th Joint Meeting of the Italy-China Government Committee and the meeting of the two countries’ Joint Commission for Economic and Trade Cooperation. This will be held as soon as possible, and Italy looks forward to strengthening mutually beneficial cooperation in a number of fields. As soon as possible in light of the new circumstances in the post-pandemic era.

According to Tajani, Europe and China are significant markets for one another and should work together more to boost two-way investment and increase trade.

He continued that the Italian side places priority on international issues like the UN Security Council reform . As they are eager to improve collaboration with China.

The Ukrainian problem was also thoroughly discussed by the two parties. He stressed that China has been dedicated to advancing peace discussions on the matter from the beginning.

He stated it is more important to continue political and diplomatic efforts to find a solution. That is agreeable to all parties the more complicated the issue gets.

Tajani expressed his gratitude to China for always being on the side of peace and his willingness to further relations with China. However to work together to advance negotiations for peace.
