The Canadian Minister of Foreign Affairs, Melanie Joly expressed her support for the Iranian people, “we have sanctioned the IRGC’s core leadership, and we will do more.”
Melanie Joly defended Canada’s stance on dealing with the Iranian government during Monday’s question period in the House of Commons, following the death of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old Iranian woman who died in the custody of Iran’s so-called “morality police” for reportedly wearing her hijab too loosely.
In addition, Joly was asked about the issue outside the House and stated that Canada has imposed new sanctions on Iran, with more to come.
