Brazil Affirms One China Policy:

On Friday, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi expressed satisfaction with Brazil’s support of   ‘One China Policy’

Brazil support of “One China policy asserts that Taiwan is an integral part of China. the policy signals stronger bilateral ties between China and Brazil.
Wang concluded a two-day visit to Brazil, making a stop in Fortaleza to meet President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva. The meeting occurred at an air force base, with no specific details provided. Wang departed for Jamaica later in the afternoon, continuing diplomatic engagements in the region.

Work towards Multi-polarity:

In Brasilia, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi emphasized the need for collaboration between China and Brazil, both members of the BRICS group, to establish a multi-polar world centered on peace and security.
Brazil’s Foreign Minister Mauro Vieira confirmed discussions with Wang on resolving conflicts in Ukraine and Gaza. Wang highlighted the importance of building closer levels of confidence between the two trade partners in addressing global challenges.

China-Brazil relations

China-Brazil relations faced challenges during former President Jair Bolsonaro’s far-right government.  The relations  have improved under the current leadership of President Lula, a popular leftist leader in his third term.
Foreign Ministers Wang and Vieira signed a visa agreement extending validity from five to 10 years, with the aim of promoting business travel and tourism between the two nations.
Wang made a stop in Fortaleza on his way to Jamaica, marking the final destination of his tour that commenced in African nations. President Lula, focused on municipal elections this year, was traveling in northeast Brazil, a key political stronghold for him

Brazils Stance on Taiwan:

Brazil’s April foreign ministry statement supports the One China Principle, recognizing China as the sole legitimate government and Taiwan as an inseparable part of Chinese territory. China, Brazil’s largest export market, eyes increased investments, particularly in soy and iron ore. Discussions in Shenzhen reveal plans for investments in power transmission, oil, and electric vehicles. Former ambassador Marcos Caramuru notes growing Chinese interest in electric vehicles, infrastructure, and traditional sectors in Brazil. Lula’s presidency strengthens mutual confidence in Brazil-China relations.
