Ambassador of Pakistan meets State Secretary of Maryland

Washington DC, 3 August 2022 (TDI): Pakistan’s Ambassador to the United States, Masood Khan, met the Secretary of State of Maryland, John C. Wobensmith on Monday.

The meeting between the two saw a discussion about strengthening bilateral ties between Maryland and Pakistan. They also discussed possible opportunities for trade and investment between Maryland and Pakistan.

Masood Khan expressed his gratitude to the Secretary of state of Maryland for his efforts in promoting good relations between Pakistan and Maryland. He also affirmed that he will himself play an important role in increasing people-to-people contact between the two.

Moreover, he also highlighted the need for professional exchange in politics, economics, and social domains. It would help strengthen the bond between Maryland and Pakistan.

US Pakistan trade:

Pakistan is coming closer to celebrating its 75th anniversary of the establishment of relations between Pakistan and the United States of America. On this occasion, Pakistan is looking forward to further strengthening its ties with the USA.

Recently, the Ambassador of Pakistan also announced that trade relations between Pakistan and America have seen a positive increase. He mentioned that Pakistani exports to the United States had grown to $9 billion and saw an annual growth rate of 35%.

Moreover, he also explained that Pakistan-US trade had grown to $12 Billion this year. This is a big achievement as it will also help in strengthening relations between the two states in the political domain.

Pakistan and Maryland relations:

Looking forward, Pakistan tries to develop closer ties between Maryland and Pakistan. The meeting between the Ambassador of Pakistan to the USA and Secretary of State of Maryland signals the two states coming closer.

Moreover, Masood Khan also met a group of Pakistani-American Christians from Maryland, Virginia, and New York on 27 July. It helped increase people-to-people contact between the states. Masood Khan also highlighted the importance of the Christian community in Pakistan.

He also appreciated the community for their contributions to Pakistan. Moreover, he addressed the issues raised by the delegation related to rights protection, electoral reforms, and constitutional framework.

The Ambassador stated that Pakistan was committed to ensuring the fundamental rights of all our citizens. Moreover, he assured them that the points raised by them would be transmitted to Pakistan.

Concluding their meeting, the delegation thanked the ambassador for their time and assured him that they would support Pakistan in strengthening its ties with the states of the USA.
