The encirclement of Gaza Strip’s largest hospital by Israeli forces has further intensified the ongoing conflict. Al-Shifa Hospital Director Mohammad Abu Salmiya reported that 179 bodies have already been interred in a courtyard, with electricity shortages in the morgues forcing the hospital to take drastic measures. The Israeli military claims the hospital sits atop a complex used by Hamas fighters, an allegation vehemently denied by the group.

The United Nations estimates that over 2,300 people, including patients, staff, and displaced civilians, are trapped inside the hospital amid fierce fighting, with 22 out of 36 hospitals in Gaza non-functional.
