Pakistan’s ranking of 140 out of 180 on the corruption perception index did not indicate any progress; instead, it remained the same. The score is down slightly from 28 to 27 compared to last year, while neighbouring nations like India showed no change.
Pakistan’s score improved under the PTI government from 2019 to 2020, reaching 120 and 124 out of 180, however in April 2022, the PTI government was overthrown by a vote of no confidence, making space for new political parties like the PMLN and PPP. Its score decreased as a result, falling to 140 in 2021.The findings reflect the views of experts and businesses.This year, Finland (87), Denmark (90), and New Zealand (90) received the highest index scores (87).
