The Swiss government has provided $5.6 million to help refugees and host communities in Pakistan with their needs for education and a living. The UNHCR representative in Pakistan, Ms Noriko Yoshida, and Swiss Ambassador Georg Steiner signed a contract to provide this sum over a four-year period recently in Islamabad. Pakistan and Switzerland also decided to expand their bilateral collaboration, particularly in the field of health.
The agreement was achieved in Islamabad during a meeting between Minister for National Health Services, Regulations, and Coordination Abdul Qadir Patel and Georg Steiner, the Swiss ambassador to Pakistan. According to the Minister, flooding in Pakistan has been difficult because it has severely devastated large portions of Balochistan, Sindh, and Punjab. and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.Massive devastation, according to Abdul Qadir Patel, has destroyed infrastructure, animals, and priceless human lives. Women and children were the most severely impacted, and harvests in many fields were destroyed.
He claimed that such a natural disaster had never occurred in Pakistan. The primary and basic health units were in utter disrepair and urgently require assistance from the entire world to rebuild the health system. According to the minister, the government is making use of all available tools to rebuild the healthcare system. He expressed gratitude to the Swiss government for helping flood victims.
According to Georg Steiner, the Swiss ambassador to Pakistan, their government is fully supporting the Pakistani government’s efforts to assist flood victims with rehabilitation. He expressed his sincere condolences for the present floods in Pakistan and the loss of life and property and gave the assurance that the Swiss government would continue to assist those affected by the floods in Pakistan.
