According to the press office for the United Nations Office in Ukraine, Martin Griffiths, the UN Under-Secretary-General for Humanitarian Affairs and Emergency Relief Coordinator arrived in Ukraine for a four-day visit. However, during the trip, there will be meetings with government representatives, aid organisations, and conflict victims. Griffiths will visit internally displaced people’s homes and an UN-supported bakery while in Nikolayev.
“Mr Griffiths will familiarise himself with the results of humanitarian response and new challenges posed by the increasing infrastructural damage amid low temperatures in winter,” the media stated. “Together with Denise Brown, UN assistant secretary-general and humanitarian coordinator for Ukraine.”
Griffiths will visit internally displaced people’s homes in Nikolayev as well as a Kherson-based bakery that receives funding from the UN. Later, he will visit Kherson to observe the opening of heating stations by the local government and the United Nations. Griffiths will meet with senior authorities, non-governmental organisation representatives, and diplomats in Kyiv to conclude his tour.
