According to reports, the Canadian government has chosen to return its visa processing facility to its high commission in Islamabad from Abu Dhabi, marking a diplomatic victory for the nation of South Asia. The relocation of the visa office will make it possible for Canadian immigration officers to validate Pakistani application credentials.
In 2019, Pakistan’s then-high commissioner to Canada asked the Canadian government to relocate the visa processing centre to its high commission in Islamabad, while other Western countries resumed services due to improved security. He had stated that Canadian immigration officials would be able to verify the credentials of applications from Pakistan if the visa office reopened. Around 10 years ago, for security reasons, the Canadian government relocated its visa office from Islamabad to Abu Dhabi and the United Kingdom. As a result of Pakistan’s success in eradicating extremist groups from the country, some Western nations have moved their visa offices back to their embassies and high commissions in Islamabad.
