According to a press statement from the US Department of State, the US announced that a total of $135 million had been raised as funding to tackle worldwide fertilizer shortages and food insecurity in low- and middle-income nations.
The Global Fertilizer Challenge’s money will be used by the US to support Pakistan, according to a tweet from the US Embassy in Islamabad.
The embassy discussed its ambitions to assist Pakistani farmers “use fertilizer more efficiently” and “maximize food output” and pointed to the nations’ “multiyear relationship” in the US-Pakistan Green Alliance.
John Kerry, the US’s Special Presidential Envoy for Climate, said that the $135 million in additional financing for the “Global Fertilizer Challenge” to fight food hunger exceeded expectations.
