On October 14, the COP27 climate summit in Egypt entered its last week, with almost 200 nations vying for a deal to guide the globe toward reducing greenhouse gas emissions and scaling up money for those suffering from the effects of climate change.
Negotiators and observers have cautioned that failing to reach an agreement on such “loss and damage” funds might derail other agreements and spoil the U.N. negotiations.
