Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman of Saudi Arabia convened a meeting with US Secretary of State Antony Blinken at the Winter Tent in AlUla on Monday.
In the meeting, both dignitaries meticulously assessed various facets of bilateral relations. Deliberations included an in-depth exploration of collaborative domains and strategies for their enhancement to serve the mutual interests of both Saudi Arabia and the United States.
The discussions also included the exchange of perspectives on current regional and international dynamics, with a particular emphasis on endeavours aimed at fostering security and stability. Notably, the session scrutinized the unfolding developments in Gaza.
During the meeting, the crown prince articulated the dire need to halt military operations in Gaza, accentuating the need for intensified humanitarian endeavours. Furthermore, he advocated for concerted efforts directed at creating a conducive environment for the restoration of stability in the region. Emphasizing a return to the path of peace, the crown prince urged a resumption of negotiations that would safeguard the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people and usher in a sustainable era of tranquillity.
Secretary Blinken’s presence in the region is part of a diplomatic initiative aimed at preventing the escalation of hostilities in Gaza. Prior to the meeting in AlUla, Blinken conducted discussions in Abu Dhabi, where he engaged with UAE President Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed. In this context, the urgent addressing of humanitarian needs in Gaza emerged as a focal point. The diplomatic tour also encompassed visits to Jordan and Qatar on the preceding Sunday.
