The death of Queen Elizabeth II and Russia’s invasion of Ukraine were possibly the two most significant events of 2022. Both were unexpected, as have many of the world’s climactic moments in the past. However, one of the major events of 2023 is already known — the history-making coronation of King Charles III.
It would be the first coronation of a British monarch in the twenty-first century. As such, it would be the first such event witnessed by generations born after June 2, 1953. Apart from the coronation, several other major political, cultural, and sporting events are planned.
Some of these events will take place in Asia. The Thailand general elections, the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup in India, and the 19th Asian Games, which were postponed from 2022, are among them.
