At the ASEAN Summit earlier this month, Cambodia turned over the ASEAN chairmanship to Indonesia. Many parties applauded Indonesia’s accomplishment in assuming the ASEAN chair, and the occasion can be considered a continuation of Indonesia’s position and leadership as it wraps up its term as a Group of 20 presidents. The position also allows Indonesia to emphasise the effectiveness of its economic and medical diplomacy. President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo announced in Phnom Penh that the nation will embrace the theme “ASEAN Matters: Epicentrum of Growth”.
