The frequent in-depth communications and exchanges between the two countries leaders and high-level officials aimed at maintaining mutual trust and expanding consensus attest to the fact that Sino-French relations are among the best between China and any other Western country.
The recent video link talks between State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi and French Foreign Affairs Minister Catherine Colonna focused on how to deepen pragmatic economic and trade cooperation and promote greater development of the China-France comprehensive strategic partnership in the new year.
Their meeting came less than two months after they spoke on the phone on November 1, during which Wang updated his French counterpart on the accomplishments of the Communist Party of China’s recently concluded 20th National Congress. They had previously met on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York in September, as well as at the G20 Foreign Ministers’ Meeting in Bali, Indonesia, in July. All of this emphasises the importance the two countries place on their mutually beneficial relations.
