Saudi Arabia Aims to Host World Water Forum in 2027
Share on FacebookShare on Twitter

Saudi Arabia has officially submitted a bid to host the eleventh session of the World Water Forum in 2027. This prestigious event, organized by the World Water Council, serves as the largest global gathering focused on water-related challenges and solutions.

The bid underscores Saudi Arabia’s determination to address water issues, despite being one of the countries facing severe water scarcity challenges. The Kingdom, known for its modern infrastructure and advanced regulatory frameworks, aims to leverage its expertise to contribute meaningfully to the global discourse on water sustainability.

The World Water Forum is a vital platform that brings together governments, organizations, officials, and specialists from various fields to exchange experiences, foster collaboration, and explore avenues for the sustainable development of the water sector. The forum facilitates the sharing of international best practices, knowledge, and cooperation to address the growing challenges related to water resources.

The National Water Strategy, a comprehensive roadmap for Saudi Arabia’s water future, plays a central role in the bid. This strategy outlines institutional and structural frameworks aimed at overcoming existing challenges and establishing sustainable practices in water resource management.

The competition for hosting the 2027 forum is intense, with Rome also vying for the opportunity. The decision on the host country is expected to be announced in May 2024 during the 2024 Forum in Bali, Indonesia. Both cities will present their proposals, emphasizing their capabilities and commitment to steering global discussions on critical water-related issues.

The outcome of this bid holds significant importance, especially in a world grappling with increasing water scarcity. As Saudi Arabia and Rome compete to host the World Water Forum in 2027, the global community anticipates the decision that will shape the direction of international efforts in addressing water challenges and ensuring sustainable water management practices.
