He met with young students, medical professionals, and members of the community who would benefit from the UNDP Pakistan and the Chinese Embassy in Pakistan’s project to renovate essential infrastructure. however, UNDP Pakistan is collaborating with local communities to aid in the flood-related recovery process.
33 million people in Pakistan have been impacted by the terrible floods. The recently released Post Disaster Needs Assessment (PDNA) shows that millions of people have lost their homes, their livelihoods have been severely affected, and vital infrastructure has been destroyed. The estimated $30 billion total in losses and damages. The areas that are most vulnerable and in poverty have been most affected by floods. In many flood-affected regions of Sindh and Balochistan, two of the hardest-hit provinces, poverty rates were much higher. Before the floods, the average poverty rate for households in disaster-affected areas was over 31%, far higher than the national average of 21.9 %.
