The report provides an overview of progress made, and challenges experienced by the humanitarian community during the first three months of the 2022 Floods Response Plan (FRP) for Pakistan. By end-November 2022, the flood extent of 4,700 km2 across Sindh and Balochistan, compared to 85,000 km2 of Pakistan appeared to be affected. Of the 8 million people estimated to be displaced as of early October 2022, when the FRP was issued, 5.4 million remained displaced. Public health remains a critical concern with widespread water- and vector-borne diseases. More than US$12.9 billion in losses was incurred by the agriculture sector -comprising crops, livestock, fisheries, and forestry.
An estimated 14.6 million people need food assistance, with over 7 million children and women needing immediate access to nutrition services. A further 1.1 million people are at high risk of sliding from crisis to emergency food security conditions under the Integrated Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC) between December 22, 2018, and March 2023. The Food Security and Agriculture Sector has provided 3.4 million people with food, cash and agricultural inputs, including partial and one-off assistance. This includes food assistance provided to 2.9 million people out of 3.7 million targeted for food assistance under the FRP. The sector has also provided crop inputs including seeds and fertilisers to 316,000 people and livestock support benefits of 200,000.
